Digestion and Absorption
Explore the first and only integrated digestion and absorption model
Integrated Model
Our integrated model is the first in vitro system to combine digestion and absorption, including mucus permeation for improved physiological relevance. The result? Reliable early-stage data to move your product development process forward with confidence.
Whether you're screening for compounds, improving formulations or optimising bioavailability, we are here to support your needs.
How It Works
Digestive fluids and enzymes simulate the breakdown of ingested substances, while a cell-compatible mucus layer acts as a natural barrier, protecting and mimicking the shielding effect observed in the human gut. Epithelial cells then mirror the absorptive function of the intestinal lining, enabling precise measurement of nutrient and drug uptake. Furthermore, a permeable membrane replicates the separation between the luminal and basolateral compartments, allowing for accurate quantification of what is absorbed. Together, these elements form a comprehensive, human-relevant model that delivers critical data to inform your product development decisions.
