Model Gut System
Our predictive lab models simulate the entire digestive tract all the way through the mouth, stomach, small intestine and large intestine. We can look at how foods, functional foods, ingredients and APIs (Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients) affect and are affected by digestion. These systems are flexible and scalable and can be adapted to meet your research challenges.
How It Works
Our digestive model can accurately replicate the human digestive system in contents, concentrations and timings. We use dynamic additions to actively simulate the process of gastric, bile acid and pancreatic fluid secretions in the digestive tract upon test product consumption. The compound can be dosed in isolation to resting levels of gastric fluid or along with food products to assess the impact of food on its dissolution, stability, and absorption.

Mini Model Gut
The Mini Model Gut is a scaled down version of our full digestive systems, developed specifically for early stage testing where product quantity is limited or expensive.
Using the same physiologically relevant conditions and components as our larger platform model, the mini model gut enables you to assess digestion and generate samples for permeation and absorption modelling at as low as 1:200 human scale.
This makes it ideal for screening prototype products, new chemical entities or high cost formulations before committing to expensive scale-up processes required to generate the product quantities required for larger scale studies.
